BAIX CAMP TEAM
The history of Escudería Baix Camp begins in 1981 when a group of car enthusiasts created a club in Reus with the aim of organizing car races and supporting the drivers.
Initially we met at the Fira bar and at the Drums pub, but soon after we opened our headquarters on the first floor of number 7 Ample street in Reus.
The organization of the 1st Coastal Climb in Mont-ral was the team's first challenge in April 1982. The spectacular Danone boats of Juan Fernández and Williams of Fernando Gómez sailed through the mountains of Mont-ral.
In December of the same year, the I Baix Camp Rally was organized, a two-day test for sports classics, being one of the pioneers in the Spanish State. The three editions of the Rally covered the most selective roads in our regions. Legendary sections such as La Mussara, Prades, Gratallops, Colldejou, Mont-ral, Capafonts or La Riba witnessed the passage at full speed of the Porsche 911 from Riberaigua, the Renault Alpine from Melús or the Alfa de Gratacós, among many others.
Driver services and race assistance were also a prominent part of our activity. Around 40 drivers, between 1982 and 1988, took the name of the team to various tests of the European, Spanish and Catalan championships in the specialties of rally, mountain and karting. The slot section of the team organized several championships. The organization of the 24 hours of Scalextric in 1983 stands out. The race was held in four circuits of six tracks of about 40 meters of rope. Thanks to the effort, courage and dedication of many people, Escuderia Baix Camp became a benchmark in motorsports in the south of Catalonia during the 1980s. Now, once again, with the same enthusiasm as 30 years ago, Escuderia Baix Camp is running again.
A TEAM FOR SPORTS AND CLASSIC MOTORS PASSIONATES
Escudería Baix Camp is a non-profit club where members share their passion for motorsports. The main objectives are the promotion of motorsports, the organization of tests, training, support and assistance to our teams. Our values entail an unequivocal commitment to the promotion of the territory, respect for people and the environment. Our activity focuses on: • Organization of races • Assistance and services to drivers • Training of sports, technical and route officials • Training of co-drivers • Collaboration in tests organized by other clubs EBC CLASSICS, THE CLASSIC SPORTS SECTION OF THE TEAM. The organization of the I Rally Baix Camp de Clásicos Deportivos in 1981 already showed our club's interest in this modality.
Now, after 30 years, the participation of our teams in classic sports events has been the catalyst that has led to the reactivation of the organizational activity of Escuderia Baix Camp.
